Unity that leads one from darkness to light
Shiva is Consciousness. The still source of all that is.
He is satchitananda — formless, attributeless, all pervading and the blissful embodiment of the eternal conscious truth.
Shakti is Shiva’s activating creative power. Without her he cannot play.
Two sides of the same coin Shiva and Shakti symbolize the unity in the duality and polarities we see in ourselves and the world.
Shiva’s seat is at the Third Eye- the place of the Ajna Chakra and Pituitary gland which is the nexus point of the three main nadis and the command center of our subtle body.
When Shiva’s third eye opens, true perception and logic finally meet which allows us to step out of self imposed limitations and see the ‘bigger’ picture in every circumstance.
As the Ida and Pingala energies meet and the sweet nectar of Sushumna rises, the knot of the ego-self and intellectual pride dissolve leaving behind strengthened intuition and a clearer intellectual understanding that leads one to newly found awakened creativity.
We become the masters of our minds and flow as one with life.
Suggested meditation practice for tonight.
“ I think the contemplation on the space between the eyebrows is the best way to experience a blissful state. This is a suitable way to meditate even if you are a person without extensive training. Its practice helps you to easily connect with the infinite within.”
Swatmarama, Hatha Yoga Pradipika. 4.80
Sit with your eyes closed and keep your focus on your Ajna chakra. Have your hands in the Hakini mudra by bringing your hands together by only allowing only your fingertips to touch each other. There is a space in between your palms.
Breathe normally and meditate for as long as you can with ease. This mudra helps stimulate the communication between the right and left hemispheres of your brain. It recharges your brain by sharpening your mental energy. It can be used at any time. Hakini mudra is also popularly known as the Brain/Mind Power Mudra.
Wishing all an auspicious. Mahashivratri tonight. May we find and experience within ourselves the oneness we seek to see in the world.
