The illusion of Healing and Wellness
Remember a time when your or someone’s sickness or death shook your core?
I do. I remember a time when I felt the pendulum effect of that dull nagging to gut wrenching fear.
It was really scary. The doctors couldn’t put a name to it. My blood reports came back all normal. For months.
But I just felt sick. I lost a lot of weight. Unease was a constant state of being. I just remember being on the edge all the time.
Psychosomatic they said. Not that they were too far from the truth.
I refused to take medicine because I knew for a person who did not know what a headache was, these symptoms surely seemed like they came from nowhere but were communicating something.
It’s been 12 plus years since then.
What I consider as my all time toughest phase of life, I realise, today has been the biggest gift of all.
I lost it all.
And in turn, found the only thing that truly matters and exists.
My Spirit.
Are you a seeker of wellness currently?
If you are struggling with an “illness” or a fear of falling ill then apart from the usual, you may identify with some of these symptoms stated of below.
1. Classic constant awareness of only this one topic in the mind about what is wrong and right. Eat right foods. What wrong did I do that caused this. Etc.
2. Fix mode. Something is broken. Unaligned. I need to fix this.
3. Looking for answers and solutions and cures. A search that never ends. You google it. You read books on it. You talk to people about it, hoping you will find that one answer or pointer you are looking for. Your main point of connecting and conversing may be on this topic.
4.You make theories and truths about everything. Eat organic. Eat more greens. Lots of water. Gallon of carrot juice till your turn orange. This suits me. This doesn’t.
Food now is clearly is broken into two teams. BAD and GOOD.
5. “Lost” is the state of your being.
6. You distract yourself when it gets overwhelming. Meet lots of people. Watch movies. Sleep. Whatever it takes to distract your “mind” and make you feel lighter.
7. You start on strict regimes. Which may or maynot seem extreme to some.
Exercise, yoga, running, breathing exercises. Not just you. It’s your family, kids, dog and cat doing it too. Lifestyle makeover is what you call it.
8. You may actually not want to even talk about to anyone for a while. Hoping it’ll disappear if you don’t focus on it. Law of attraction 101 after all.
9. You feel like a person who is hoolahooping through Life. Your only focus and energy is on constantly moving in a specific way so you can keep that hoolah up.
24/7. Without respite.
10. If you aren’t ill – yet. But have witnessed a dear and near one. You are in prevention mode. You are extremely vigilant and only move in the boundaries of right you have created for yourself. You are now the “manager” of your health.
These means may result in ease and health for a bit but this doesn’t last long.
A little time in and it has you back in it’s clutches. And perhaps this time, with a vengeance.
Life seems like such a huge burden. The crushing responsibility to get your act together and figure it out seems to have a eerie sense of urgency to it.
You hardly remember the light hearted child like playful person you were.
Have you been punished for some wrong?
The big WHY pops up. Why me?
“Oh gosh. What did I miss? What am I still missing? ”
You are not disciplined enough.
You are not strong enough.
Simply “not enough” is your state.
Some call that a more gentler word – Seeker.
Now you are wrung dry, feeling like a failure because you can’t seem to get your act together.
There you find yourself waiting on the sidelines trying to get better so you can start living fully again.
Resonates?
Feeling well and being whole has nothing to do with managing or changing behaviours and actions.
Those are simply symptoms. Don’t patch them. Instead look at the cause.
Finding wellness through outer changes is a fragmented approach.
Inherently there is nothing to “fix or heal” in the body.
The concept of being holistic is again, not about what’s on the outside.
It’s all about who we are on the inside.
It is about coming back to our wholeness.
“Wholistic” is our natural state of being.
Healing is reconnecting back to the awareness of your natural state of wholeness and happiness.
Illness, addiction, depression, physical and mental pain.
All types of suffering in Life are a state of dis-ease.
It’s a state where your mind has blocked the flow of Life itself.
So “who/what is feeling this dis-ease” is the better question to ask.
Our bodies are simply a physical reflection of our mental state.
The unease is of our mind? It is a dis-ease state of mind.
The manifested disease of the body is simply a reflection of that unease.
So does food, exercise and a healthy lifestyle not matter?
It matters.
We need to do what we need to do.
See a doctor. Take those medicines. Get that surgery.
This is not about sticking your head in the sand like the Ostrich thinking nothing else exists.
But in Life, the mind – body – soul balance is a what creates – matter. So all of it matters.
But in today’s world where we predominantly either only focus on healing our body or controlling our environment, we have miss seeing the balance and source of where the gap exists.
The body condition is just an outer reflection of of our inner world.
Our body is an amazing self healing tool. It has an intelligence of it’s own.
Cut your finger and watch how it magically heals itself.
Your heart beats non-stop. Pumping blood even when you are not “doing” anything to assist it.
Your baby is born perfect with all 10 toes, 10 fingers with nails and lungs in the right places without your constant help.
Your body can surely handle a little extra sugar and fat while you snooze on the couch, don’t you think?
What drains the body is the constant attack from the mind.
Did I say attack?
You bet I did.
If we observe closely, we will find the obvious patterns.
The anger we feel and then out of the guilt of feeling it, and labeling it bad, we promptly stuff that into our cells, tightly bottled up for no-one to see including ourselves.
It is not right to feel or express it, right?
We feel sadness but we don’t dare look at in the face fearing we may forever be lost in it’s dark abyss.
Fear based labels swimming in our heads – depression? Could it lead to suicidal tendencies? Bi polar?
These thoughts of fear are being stuffed down. And then one is shocked years later when it gives us a glimpse of what we have fed it.
Anger. Sadness. Fear.
All valid feelings which are simply pointers telling us we have forgotten who we are.
They are just to be lovingly acknowleged, thanked for being the messengers of truth and allowed to flow. We suppress and hold on to them for life!
We may even make a story of it and make that our identity.
Judgement. Guilt.
Sharp dangerous tools created by false core beliefs of right and wrong.
We are constanly stabbing ourselves (it ain’t any less dramatic) with these without even realizing it sometimes at a conscious level.
Generations of conditioning.
The real killer here are the core beliefs or truths we create that don’t serve us.
We refuse to let go in the fear of who will we be seen as if these truths came out.
Or perhaps some think who am I without these?
Under all our actions and thoughts lie one of these source beliefs.
“I am Alone”
“I am imperfect”
“I am not loved”
“I am not free”
“I am not whole”
No wonder the body is reflecting an “I am a not” too.
So let go.
Truly trust and let go.
Walk the paradoxical line.
Acknowledge your fears and emotions. Thank them and let go.
See and feel yourself fully healed.
Approach every moment from a state of wholeness.
Do not entertain any thought that you don’t accept as your truth.
Do this consistently and watch your body reflect the same.
There is a lag in time but don’t let “reality” disillusion you.
Heal your mind and heal your body.
It is not as hard as it may seem.
My program “From Mind to the Heart” guides all through this.
But this is not a sales pitch for it:)
You can do it all by yourself by simply asking these two questions.
1. What thought that I have deemed as my truth, am I functioning from in the NOW?
2. Is this thought putting me in a state of LOVE or a state of FEAR?
Love can only bring forth more love.
This one change can change your life.
Not just your health.
Not just your relationships.
Not just your wealth.
All of it.
Life itself.
It’s truly that simple.
READY? Want to give it a try?
Go for it.
You only need 2 things to keep in mind.
Be aware in your present moment. Be vigilant. Always.
Welcome what arises in you. It brings a message.
Thank it an let go if it isn;t something that serves you.
And be completely honest with yourself.
Don’t hide behind your stories and judgement. Don’t entertain any thought that lets you focus on what is not preferred. Mind stories are just that – stories.
You can do it.
Sending Love your way!
There is nothing else you need.
You never did.
